Mild Tremors Felt in City

KOCHI: The earthquake that hit the North Indian states for a second time on Tuesday was also felt in some parts of the city.

Mild tremors were felt at Kaloor, Kadavanthra and Marine Drive at 12.35 pm. Occupants of high-rise  buildings in these areas said they experienced the vibration caused by the quake.

As panic struck, most of the people vacated the buildings and came out in the open.

“We felt like losing balance and it seemed that the building was about to collapse. The effect remained for around 2-3 seconds,” said Vishnu, a employee working in a high-rise building at Kaloor. Coincidentally, while on April 25 the tremors were felt when the Judicial Commission probing the Solar scam case was examining CPI leader Pnniyan Raveendran at the Panampilly Nagar office, this time it was examining former Chief Whip P C George when it occurred.
