Amritanandamayi Math Extends Support to Nepal

KOCHI: Mata Amritanandamayi Math mobilised massive support to relief operations in the earthquake-hit region of Nepal. The Math donated two tonnes of  essential medicines, one lakh doses of Anti-Tetanus Toxoid vaccines, and other essential medical supplies to state-run Bir Hospital to meet the critical shortage of medicines.

Mridula Koirala, special adviser to the Prime Minister, accepted the consignment on behalf of Prime Minister Sushil Koirala. It was the single largest supply of ATT vaccine provided by any aid organisation since the earthquake struck the Himalayan nation.

“With the compassion and aid from a humanitarian like Amma, I feel the burden on my shoulder lessened,” said Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, when the representatives of the Math called on him. Mata Amritandamayi Math was the first voluntary organisation to reach the quake-hit region.  The Math also provided food articles, and tin sheets for temporary shelter.
