KOCHI: Fefka Music Directors Union (Femu), a conglomeration of music directors of Malayalam cinema and an auxiliary of Fefka, is celebrating its second anniversary in association with Black and White Creations Pvt Ltd, at Gokulam Convention Centre on Saturday.
The event, Gurupournami, will be attended by Malayalam movie fraternity in which music composers of Malayalam cinema will be honoured with awards befitting their stature and contributions.
Those who receive awards include Ilayaraja, Balamuralikrishna, Sreekumaran Thampi, M K Arjunan, Jayan (Jaya Vijaya), M S Viswanathan, K J Yesudas, Jery Amaldev, K J Joy, Shyam, M J Joseph, Alleppy Ranganath, Vidhyadharan, R Somashekharan, Rajamani, Perumbavoor G Raveendranath, Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, O V Raphael, Keeravani, S P Venkitesh, S Balakrishnan, Ouseppachan, Vidyasagar, Mohan Sithara, Ramesh Narayanan, Darsan Raman, Darshan Raman and Kanjhangad Ramachandran.
The audience will be enchanted with a musical feast while the entire set of playback singers from Kerala will sing a song each for the music masters.
The event will also witness the launch of two flagship projects of Femu, Femu Music Awards the Femu Rock On, a music band.
The jurisdiction of Femu will cover the whole south India including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada music industries. Selected personalities from each language will be given awards in almost all categories from the music field.
Biggest awards exclusively for the music world of south India, these awards will be titled in memory of the late and legendary music composers of Kerala.
The prestigious project of Femu will be launched at the event by Raihana, singer, composer and sister of A R Rahman.
The second project ‘Femu Rock On’ would be the biggest music band in the world in terms of the strength of its members.
The proceeds of the performances will go to the charity activities of the organisation.
The inauguration of the band, which planning tours across the globe, will be done by Resul Pookutty.
