Cruise the Backwaters on Majestique-1

KOCHI: Majestique-1, a fully-air conditioned, 9000-sq-ft, two-storied cruise boat-cum-floating restaurant will set sail from Bolgatty Island here on Saturday.

Fisheries minister K  Babu will flag off the cruise. Sajan Mathew, managing director, Majas Travels, Tours and Logistics, said that the cruise boat-cum-floating restaurant will be the largest of its kind in the country.

“We have invested around `4.5 crore for the ship’s construction and top of the line furnishing to match global standards, with facilities including dedicated party and lounge areas, a space for holding business conferences and a specialty restaurant backed up with fully equipped kitchen. The ship will cruise the backwaters in the day carrying up to 145 people and will serve as a floating restaurant after sunset, with a capacity for 400 diners, which will be restricted to 200 initially,” he said.

Majastique-1 will conduct two cruises a day, the lunch cruise and the sunset cruise.

“The three hour cruise with lunch will cost `1,500 and the sunset cruise along with high tea will cost `1,000,” Sajan Mathew said.

He also said that cultural shows including traditional Indian art forms will be arranged in the evenings for the guests.The reservation for the cruise can be done online along with their choice of food, which will be served accordingly.
