Man Arrested for Cheating

KOCHI:The Cheranalloor Police on Saturday arrested a 48-year-old person on charges of cheating residents of an apartment complex at Chittoor by collecting money and not paying their monthly water bills.

The arrested has been identified as Jigesh Kumar, who was service as secretary at Paradise Apartment, Chittoor. According to polices, Jigesh collected Rs 900 each from 24 residents of the apartment for paying their water bills. Jigesh, who was living in one of the apartments on rent, was president of the residents’ association there. He cheated the residents by giving them fake receipts. The fraud came to light when officials of the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) visited the apartment complex for disconnecting water supply, after the dues shot up to Rs 49,694.Subsequently, Dheerendra Krishnan K K, a resident of Paradise Apartment, filed a complaint, on which the police registered a case. Meanwhile, after the case was filed, the accused got admitted in a hospital, alleging he was tortured by the police.
