Two Arrested for Recruitment Fraud

KOCHI: The police have registered case against a Kodungallur-native and his son who allegedly recruited several youths from the State for employment in Qatar, and availed loans using their salary accounts.

The incident came into light when one of the victims returned to his native place at Eloor recently, after escaping from the fraudsters in Qatar.

The arrested have been identified as Ismayil Chulliparambil and his son Isahaq. The police have interrogated Isahaq, who is at his native place. Ismayil, the first accused, is currently in Qatar.

Meanwhile, the NRI Cell of the Kerala Police registered case against the duo, based on a complaint filed by Vysakh Mohan.

The accused allegedly recruited eight youths from the State after promising them jobs in a company named Terra Homs Trading and Contracting, Qatar, and opened salary accounts in their names upon their arrival. Later, the accused transferred money to the accounts, claiming it to be their salary, with the intention of availing loans using those accounts. Meanwhile, the salary was paid directly to the employees.

First Isahaq availed a credit card using the bank accounts of the victims, and then Ismayil took vehicle loan and personal loan. The accused allegedly purchased four vehicles using the salary accounts. The fraud came to light only after the victims received intimation from the bank. When they failed to repay the loan, the bank launched legal action and imposed travel ban on them.

R Ratheesh, Station House Officer at the Eloor police station, said the Indian Embassy in the UAE had been informed about the issue.
