KOCHI: Soon after results of the local body elections were announced, the Latin Catholic community here came up with the claim that votes of the community played a crucial role in deciding winners in the Kochi Corporation. “The UDF would have won more seats in Kochi, had they given deserving consideration for the Latin Church. The UDF faced a setback in certain divisions for being hesitant to recognise the community’s influence there,” said Shaji George, convener of the political affairs committee of the Kerala Regional Latin Catholic Council.
