KOCHI:Preparations are in full swing to  provide a red carpet welcome for the new councillors of the Kochi Corporation who will take oath at the council hall on Thursday.

The Corporation office has been painted blue, which is part of the project ‘one Kochi one colour’ and the council hall is being renovated.

“The painting of the outer areas of the Corporation office is almost over and the renovation of the council hall will be completed by Thursday morning. CCTV cameras have been installed. The electrical and furnishing work have been completed. The renovation of Mayor’s and Deputy Mayor’s cabin is almost over. With the revamp, the councillors will get a positive feel on the first day itself,” said Corporation secretary V R Raju.

A video screen will be put up in front of the Corporation office to provide the visuals of the swearing-in ceremony.

“As the hall is restricted to councillors and other guests on Thursday, the family members who accompany them can see the oath-taking on the screen,” said District Collector M G Rajamanickam who is now holding the Mayor’s post.
