KOCHI:Companies are being formed in Kerala in large numbers. A total of 506 companies registered in Kerala - between July 1 and September 30, 2015 - include 19 public companies with a total authorised capital of Rs 60.97 crore and 22 one person companies with a total authorised capital of Rs 40 lakh. Among them 28 were big size companies having authorised capital of Rs 50 lakh and above, according to the Assistant Registrar of Companies, Kerala and Lakshadweep.
The highest number of companies in Kerala was registered in Ernakulam district with 106 enterprises followed by Thiruvananathapuram and Thirssur, which have 55 and 47 companies, respectively, during the period.
As many as 91 companies were registered in computer and related activities sector, 59 companies in manufacturing sector, 45 companies for construction, 73 companies for wholesale trade, 31 companies for chit, six in hotel and restaurant sector, 35 for retail trade, 14 for real estate activities and 18 companies in agriculture, farming and plantation sector. Four companies were transferred from Kerala to other states and six companies were transferred from other states to Kerala. As many as 104 companies were struck off and 46 companies have changed their names during the period.
Kasaragod and Wayanad districts with one and three companies fared the lowest.
