'Strict Action against Anti-socials'

KOCHI:The police will take strict action against the anti-social elements and ragging in Maharaja’s College, said City Police Commissioner MP Dinesh.

Police used to carry out regular inspections in Maharajas College and its hostel. Night patrolling was also frequent in the area, he said. During the election period, most of the police officials were deployed on poll duty. The force had a shortage of 1,800 personnel because they were deployed in other centres. The delay in taking immediate action on the complaint forwarded by the college principal was because of the hectic schedule due to the elections. Action was taken immediately after the polls. Accused were arrested and were booked on charges of culpable homicide.
