Social Science Research to Get Fillip

KOCHI: An exclusive research institute in the field of social science is on the anvil in the state.

The Kerala Council for Advanced Social Science Research similar to that of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) will be set up in the state.

The state government had directed the Social Justice Department to come out with a project report in this regard within three months. Terming the decision as ‘revolutionary’ Minister for Social Justice M K Muneer told ‘Express’ that the body will instigate research on social issues in the state.

“A council like this is the need of the hour. At present, intense research is lacking in social science field. As we are facing a number of social issues daily, a research body like this will propel detailed examination into them. It will be like the ICSSR,” said Muneer.

Officials with the Social Justice Department said the Kerala Council for Advanced Social Science Research will be set up on the lines of Kerala Council for Historical Research, inspired by Indian Council for Historical Research.
