KOCHI: The contributions of veteran journalist K M Roy are priceless, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
“Roy worked with a broad social perspective, and the awards he won were in recognition of that”, said the Chief Minister while speaking after presenting the prestigious Swadeshabhimani-Kesari Award to Roy on Sunday, the highest honour instituted by the government for journalists.
The award was presented at Roy’s residence at Kochukadavanthra here. “Roy kept the tradition of Swadeshabhimani Ramakrishna Pillai and Kesari Balakrishna Pillai through journalism of courage,” said Minister K C Joseph, who presided over the function.
“Impartial journalism has been adversely affected by competition between media firms,” said Excise Minister K Babu. Mayor Soumini Jain; K V Thomas MP; and MLAs Benny Behanan and Hibi Eden, among others, also spoke.
