KOCHI: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) announced hartal at North Paravoor on Tuesday, demanding a detailed investigation into the mysterious death of a local leader of the Bharathiya Dharma Jana Sakhyam (BDJS).BJDS general secretary M C Venu was found hanging inside the local committee office of the CPM near Moothakunnam around 6 pm on Monday. The police suspect Venu had committed suicide due to personal issues. Venu, who was an active worker of the CPM until last year, had joined the BJDS prior to the Assembly election. Local leaders of the NDA have demanded a detailed probe into the incident.
“We suspect it to be a case of suicide. However, a detailed probe is required to ascertain the cause of death. An inquest will be conducted on Tuesday in the presence of the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO),” said officials of the Vadakkekara police station. Meanwhile, local leaders of the NDA and the BJDS claimed that Venu was facing threats ever since he left the CPM and joined the new party. According to them, a petition was filed a few months ago after Venu informed the police that he was facing threats.
