KUFOS' Meet on 'Blue Economy' From Today

KOCHI: A three-day international conference on ‘Towards a sustainable blue economy: Production, strategies and policies’ (TaSBE)  organised by the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) will begin on Thursday.  It will be underway till Saturday.

Minister for Fisheries, Excise and Ports K Babu will inaugurate the conference, which will deliberate on finding sustainable means to utilise ocean and other water resources to develop a healthy ‘Blue economy’, particularly for the country. Ola M Johannessen of Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center, Norway, will be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. KUFOS Vice-Chancellor B Madhusoodana Kurup will preside over. 

TaSBE will have three plenary sessions, seven technical sessions and exhibitions, besides a special summit on ‘Framing a blue ocean policy.

Eminent oceanographers, fishery scientists, environmentalists, naval exponents and maritime industrialists from across the world will take part in the conference to be held at Radisson Blu Hotel.
