KOCHI:Police are collecting the details of the migrant workers who were part of the ongoing renovation works at the Padavathu Mahadeva temple at Maradu suspecting the involvement of outsiders in the theft that occurred at the temple the other day. Officers pointed out that they suspect migrant workers as they were familiar with the temple and its premises.
There is renovation work going on in the temple and many migrant labourers are working at the site. A team led by CI South Bijoy Chandran is probing the case. According to the officers,the theft came to light around 3.30 am on Saturday when temple officials found the doors of the temple office and the sanctum sanctorum open. Police found that the thieves stole valuables worth around Rs 1.5 lakh from the temple. The police took the help of forensic experts and dog squad. They also examined the images captured by the CCTV camera placed on the premises.
