Woman Kills 8-year-old Son, Tries to End Life in Kochi

In a tragic incident, an eight-year old boy was killed by his own mother by slitting the veins of his hand.

KOCHI: In a tragic incident, an eight-year old boy was killed by his own mother by slitting the veins of his hand. The mother later attempted suicide by stabbing herself at their residence at Kokkunnu, near Angamaly on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Albin, while his mother Tina,33, whose condition is very critical, has been undergoing treatment at Little Flower Hospital, Angamaly.

According to the police officers, Tina reportedly cut the veins of the hands of  Albin using a knife and then slit the veins of her own hands and consumed poison. Shyju, husband of Tina, who is a driver, found the duo lying in a pool of blood when he reached the residence around 8 pm. Hearing his cry, local residents arrived at the spot and rushed Tina and Albin to the nearby MAJ Hospital, Mookkannoor, near Angamaly. However, Albin was declared dead at the hospital. Later, Tina was shifted to the Little Flower Hospital. According to the police officers her condition is serious.

A team led by Angamaly Circle Inspector  A K Viswanathan has commenced a probe into the incident after examining the spot. “The real reason behind the killing is yet to be ascertained,” according to the officers. They maintained that family issues are suspected to be behind the incident.

Special Team to Probe Murder Case

Kochi: A special investigation team under Perumbavoor DySP Anil Kumar, has been constituted to probe into the murder of 30-year old Jisha of Kuruppampady.  Jisha was found murdered in the bedroom of her house at Vattolipadi in Kuruppampady on Saturday night. Jisha, a law graduate,had been staying with her mother. According to the officers, the primary investigation failed to find any clues regarding the murder. Hence the authorities has decided to set up  a special probe team. The probe has been intensified, according to the officers.
