Caricature festival

CariToon-2016, the National Cartoon and Caricature Festival being held in Kochi, will have a variety of programmes on Monday.

KOCHI: CariToon-2016, the National Cartoon and Caricature Festival being held in Kochi, will have a variety of programmes on Monday, including Mini Screen Smile - an interactive session of eminent political satirists on television; and cartoonists Ajit Ninan, Manoj Das and Mohan Sivanand with Vinod Mathew Jacob.

The festival, organised by the Kerala Cartoon Academy, is being held from May 22 to 25.  On Monday, there will also be a ‘Meet-the-Animator’ programme with Suresh Eriyat, Neelima and Adam Wyrwas (Oscar Award winner from Poland), and a session of creators of political cartoons moderated by Johny Lukose. Eminent cartoonist and National Award winner  (for Animation) Suresh Eriyat, circus legend Gemini Shankaran, Malayalam film director Balachandra Menon and mimicry artist Prasad will be felicitated on the occasion.

As part of the programme, an exhibition will be held at the Press Club Art Gallery, on the topic ‘Political Lampooners: A tribute to Cartoon Legends,’ and an exhibition of selected works of illustrious Indian cartoonists. At the Durbar Hall Art Gallery, ‘election cartoons’ will be exhibited.
