KOCHI: Can you imagine this? Just by viewing a photo or video of a local shop, you can avail a discount. Off’ Zone, an app started by Piravom Technolodge based startup Gooseberry Media, helps to bridge the gap between local stores and customers. This, at an era where huge discounts are available through e-commerce! The startup helps connects local stores to the public and enables them to receive offers. Founded in January 2013 by Palakkuzha native Raphy P Varghese, the startup has over 50 stores in its kitty.  Their product Off’ Zone is available on Google playstore. Customers will receive offers from stores by watching videos through Off’ Zone. The customers can also receive phone numbers from the app and take orders from the stores. Other details including Name, Type, Opening Closing Time, Address and Geo location of the stores can be listed through the app.

B Tech Graduates from Maria College of Engineering Marthandam, Eldho Urumeese, Rahul Raghavan, Akhil KS, Binu Remanan, Rahul Raju have co-founded the company along with Raphy.

“ People are very interested in receiving offers from stores. Online sales are increasing day by day and customers continue to receive offers from Amazon, Flip cart, Ebay, Paytm. But there is no platform for local retailers to display their offers (seasonal offers, stock clearance, discount sale).  So our app mutually helps the customers and stores alike, says Raphy Varghese.

Cost-effective advertisement

Customers will receive offers while watching or sharing videos or photos of the stores whereas stores can ping the customers who have who have viewed or searched their stores. This is also a cost-effective advertisement,” Raphy adds.

Currently, Gooseberry Media is helping customers to build their brand elements and create a digital identity through websites, social media marketing and promo video production. The company shoots and edit videos of stores, companies and releases in youtube as 30-90 sec videos, which the stores can also send through whatsapp and Facebook, where they can easily  spread brand.
