KTM Society to conduct skill development courses

The KTM Society has decided to conduct a series of training programmes for sellers participating at the Kerala Travel Mart (KTM).

KOCHI: The KTM Society has decided to conduct a series of training programmes for sellers participating at the Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) to be held in September, with the aim of raising their sales/marketing skills to international standards.

Topics of the short term courses will include Selling Skills, Customer/Guest Centricity, Entrepreneurship and Revenue Management.  The KTM, the largest gathering of tourism stakeholders organised in partnership with the Department of Tourism, will be held at the Samudrika and Sagara Convention Centre at  Willingdon Island here from September 28 to 30.   Under the initiative, training will be imparted to KTM participants on dealing with visitors from different countries.

“Since the KTM is an international event, sellers will be required to deal with people from different nations who speak diverse languages. Therefore, cultural sensitivity is a must,” said KTM Society president Abraham George.  “The Society will hire experts from the respective fields and conduct workshops at  various tourism destinations, including Kovalam, Ernakulam, Munnar, Thekkady and Wayanad. The programme will be conducted before commencement of the KTM.”   The ninth edition of the KTM is expected to attract around 1,500 buyers from across the country and abroad.
