KOCHI: The Gandhi Peace Foundation has cautioned the authorities against developing the proposed Vyttila flyover without proper planning and vision. The office-bearers of the outfit said in a release that, if the proposed flyover is constructed without taking note of the traffic flow through the junction and widening the service roads, it would face the predicament of the Edappally flyover, where the authorities are yet to find a solution to rising traffic woes even after a flyover was thrown open to traffic.
A meeting of various stakeholders, including NHAI, Kochi Corporation, district administration, and representatives of passenger outfits, have to be convened inviting their views on the proposed project. Similarly, the plan for the proposed flyover has to be published to seek the opinion of the public. Besides, the service roads near the junction have to be widened to facilitate the free left turn before starting construction, the outfit said.
