KOCHI: In the aftermath of Cyclone Ockhi’s disastrous rampage on the coastal areas, the students of St Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Pattom, have collected large quantity of food packets to help those who have been affected by the catastrophe. Titled ‘Alambaheenarkku Podichoru Ende Vaka’, the students were able to collect around 4,000 food packets.
“The initiative is an attempt to provide relief to the affected and empathise with them,” says school principal C C John. The food packets brought by the school students were received by the principal and headmistress Asha Annie George. The meals were distributed to people staying in the relief camps around the Vizhinjam-Poonthura area by a team led by the school headmistress, programme coordinator Nelson Valiyaveetil and PTA president Jayakumar.
