Boat goes down off Lakshadweep, crew rescued

A fishing boat, ‘Infant Jesus of Prague’, went down off Lakshadweep on Sunday evening. However, its four-member crew was rescued to safety by a Naval fast interceptor craft.

KOCHI: A fishing boat, ‘Infant Jesus of Prague’, went down off Lakshadweep on Sunday evening. However, its four-member crew was rescued to safety by a Naval fast interceptor craft which rushed to the spot on receiving information on the mishap.

The crew members were rescued and taken to Androth Island. According to the Navy sources, the engine room of the boat, which sank 18 km off Androth at 5 pm, was completely flooded.

Indian Navy Ship Shardul was diverted to the area to provide assistance to the fishing boat. The Navy was alerted by the  Lakshadweep administration.
