Strive to protect the environment: Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac

As much as the world is our home so is it the abode of all living things, Finance Minister Thomas Isaac said on Monday.

KOCHI: As much as the world is our home so is it the abode of all living things, Finance Minister Thomas Isaac said here on Monday. He was speaking after releasing the book ‘Njanum Ente Bhoomiyum, Njanum Ente Samuhavum’ written by Mar Thomas Chakiath, former Auxiliary Bishop of Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly.

Isaac said environmental science is a science of interconnection and each living being depends on each other. “It is necessary to maintain that balance, failing which earth will become a difficult place to live,” he said.

Isaac said the book gave a new religious vision that man should not declare himself as the ultimate authority. “Instead, he should adhere to the rules of nature and consider protection of environment as his moral responsibility,” said Isaac.

Auxiliary Bishop of Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly Mar Sebastian Adayanthrath delivered the presidential address.

Introducing the book, academician K S Radhakrishnan said it targets mainly students. “The very appearance of the book reveals simplicity,” Radhakrishnan said.

MLAs Hibi Eden and Anwar Sadath, Principal Secretary of LSGD T K Jose and former president of Vypeen block panchayat Soujath Abdul Jabbar also attended the function.
