Kerala Fisheries Minister visits JOC, SPB at Southern Naval Command in Kochi

KOCHI: Fisheries Minister J Mercykutty Amma  visited the Joint Operations Centre (JOC) and Sagar Prahari Bal (SPB) at the Southern Naval Command here. 

Mercykutty Amma was briefed on JOC and SPB’s  operations and facilities.

Key issues related to furthering the synergy among stakeholders, especially the fishing community and coastal belt of Kerala, were discussed during the visit. The minister undertook a tour of the SPB’s Fast Intercept Craft(FAC).

Based in Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, Kochi and Port Blair, JOCs, are the nerve centre of coastal security and ensure smooth and seamless coordination among the approximately 20 stakeholders.  

Mercykutty Amma was received and  shown around by a team of officers led by Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command, Rear Admiral R J Nadkarni.
