KOCHI: The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Maradu, on Tuesday remanded Cronin Alexander Baby, accused of abetting the suicide of the 18-year-old CA student Mishel Shaji Varghese in judicial custody till March 28.
When produced before the Magistrate, Cronin told the court he was innocent and had known Mishel for the last two years. He also moved a bail application which will be considered by the court on Wednesday.
“Our family members knew about our friendship and we never had any major issues between us. When I spoke to her last time, Mishel told me that she was going to church and soon she switched off her mobile phone,” he told media persons while being produced in the court.
The new investigation team will soon approach the court seeking his custody for further interrogation.
