THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Reach World Wide, a voluntary charitable society with a vision to reach every aspect of humanity worldwide, will arrange a day of fun named “A Day to Celebrate Life” for the patients at Cochin Cancer Research Center on April 1st (Saturday).

The event will see celebrities including artist Jayaraj Warrier, director Sibi Malayil and music director Mejo Joseph participate to make a better day for the patients.

The programme of the day includes games, karaoke, a comedy show and photoshoot with celebrities. The day will start with the lighting of the lamps by the guests at 10 am and end with lunch.

Reach Worldwide is a voluntary charitable society which has a vision to reach all aspects of humanity worldwide.

Started by Dr Mathew Kuruvila as a food aid volunteers network in Kottayam in 2004, the organisation has over 500 volunteers in each district in Kerala, and has expanded to major cities in India including Bombay, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Mysore etc. It also has its independent chapter in London and will soon have an independent chapter in Dubai. All the chapters of Reach Worldwide are independent of each other and focus on taking up local issues.

Started with a handful of people who gather to cook and distribute food in Kottayam, Reach Worldwide has distributed more than three million packets of food since then and held hundreds of medical camps.

In 2011 it started the “child sponsorship programme”, which is now sponsoring over 4000 pre school children across Kerala. The sponsorship is based on their own criteria and covers all daily needs of children including but not limited to education, food, schoolbags and stationery.  It also organises “one more wish” events for terminally ill children.

District Collector Mohammed Y Safirulla, CCEC Medical superintendent Dr. PG Balagopal, Medical College Principal Dr. V K Sreekala, Vice Principal Dr. R Jayasree, RMO Dr. Ganesh and others will be present at the function.
