KOCHI: The Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT) has directed the state government to reinstate in service Dr Jilse George who was suspended from the post of professor of General Medicine at Kochi Medical College in the wake of medical student Shamna Thasneem's death due to alleged medical negligence.
The KAT order came on a plea from George. Senior counsel N Nandakumara Menon representing George submitted his client's suspension will not stand legal scrutiny. Also, none of the reports submitted by various committees contain conclusive evidence to prove medical negligence could be attributed to the petitioner. Holding George's continued suspension unnecessary, the KAT Bench set aside the suspension order.
