KOCHI: The upgraded version of Kochi1 Mobile App, which will help passengers plan the ticket-less journey in various modes of transport in the city including Kochi Metro Rail, will be launched in six months.
The current version of the app, available on Android and iOS platforms, is not quite popular and has only 1,000 downloads to boast. It does not have much features and its only major help is in providing QR code to Kochi1 Smart Card users.
“Version 2, with enhanced features including payment of utility service bills, is under testing. We are hopeful of launching it in another two months. However, the comprehensive journey planner can be added to the app only after the installation of GPS system in the feeder services. So the final version of the app will be ready only in six months,” according to KMRL’s official spokesperson.
Once the final version is ready, Kochi1 App will be a complete journey planner for the passengers. Along with providing metro train’s time schedule, it will help passengers with the timings of feeder buses and other services.
According to the KMRL officer, linking the app with feeder services will help in ensuring last mile connectivity. The KMRL is also planning to introduce click and collect facility by linking it with the Smart Card. It will enable a passenger to order commodities while travelling in Kochi Metro and collect the goods from a station.
“The tender for the same is already floated. The last date for submission of the bid is April 27,” added the spokesperson.
