It’s raining nature’s love

It is a known fact that the elements of rain, love and nature are sure-fire enhancers of a poetic frame.

KOCHI:It is a known fact that the elements of rain, love and nature are sure-fire enhancers of a poetic frame. Beyond their stunning visual effects, they help in the creation of a sea of moods: Joy, mystery, fear, romance and sometimes laughter.

‘Paithu Kalathe Thakarakal,’ a collection of pictorial poems by Suresh Tripunithura, revolves around these three themes - rain, nature and love. The beauty and grace of the monsoon showers, our longing and love for them and the fear of the impact of industrialisation on nature are depicted in the poems. Like the sudden spell of showers that bring cheer to all beings on earth who had been reeling under the simmering heat for long, these poems refresh our minds.

One of the main characteristics of the poetry collection is the use of photographs, which have been captured by the poet himself. A book which is full of life, it has trees, ponds, roads, butterflies and flowers come alive.

The first poem under the rain series depicts the anxious wait of an almost dried-up tree for the onset of rain. A poetry collection so close to nature, it takes us back to the good old days of our times. The poems end on a note of hope. The poet, an employee of Kerala Agricultural Development and Farmers Welfare Department, reminds us that nature should be preserved for the generations to come.
