KOCHI:The representatives of IPE Global Ltd — the DPR consultant for the Vyttila Mobility Hub second phase development — will visit the facility on Tuesday. Apart from assessing the existing facilities at the Hub, the team will evaluate the Kochi Metro construction activities and the related infrastructure facilities, including the boat jetty, ahead of the preparation of the detailed project report.

Officers with the Vyttila Mobility Hub Society (VMHS) will meet the consultants at the Hub to  discuss the requirements for the second phase. Further meetings will be held with the consultants before the commencement of the DPR preparation, said a senior VMHS officer.

“VHMS will put forth the necessities for the second phase of development, including passenger amenities, structural design, entry and exit points of the Hub and the requirement for open space. Another requirement is offering better connectivity between Vyttila Junction and Mobility Hub,” the officer said.
A kick-off meeting attended by IPE representatives and VMHS and KMRL officers discussed the scope of work in connection with the DPR preparation.“It was more like an introductory session,” said a KMRL officer.

Earlier, the tender for DPR preparation was handed over to IPE Global Ltd at an estimated cost of `1.2 crore. The DPR preparation is expected to be completed in three months. The second phase of development will focus on providing seamless connectivity between various modes of transport like buses, metro rail, water metro, autorickshaws and cabs in a passenger-centric manner.

“Dedicated areas for city services, autorickshaw stand, taxi stand, connectivity between the metro station and the boat jetty are other requirements. A redesign of the Vyttila Junction and area traffic plan are also among the priorities,” the officer said.

Based on DPR, the mode of implementation and channelising of funds will be decided.Appropriate ITS (Intelligent Transport System), infrastructure, terminal management system to facilitate arrival and departure of buses, in sync with boat and metro operations are part of the scope of work of the agency preparing DPR.
