Woman gangraped by men who sought drinking water in Kolkata

A woman, who was separated from her husband, was gangraped by three men who barged into the house after asking her for drinking water.

KOLKATA: A woman, who was separated from her husband, was gangraped by three men who barged into the house after asking her for drinking water.

The woman, who was caretaker of an old woman in Shaktinagar of Maslandpur in North 24 Parganas district, was gangraped by accused Surojit Mallik, Raju Mallik and Naliash Sarkar on Thursday night. "The trio asked the woman for water and as she brought them a jug of water and opened the gate, the trio barged in and gangraped her.

They threatened the other occupants of the house against raising a voice," a police official in Habra Police station said. "Accused Surojit Mallik and Raju Mallik have been arrested. Naliash Sarkar is absconding. Cases have been booked against the trio," the official added.
