KOLKATA:  An elderly man, who had queued up before a bank from the wee hours, died of heart attack at his home, his relatives said, becoming the latest casualty in the demonetisation related turmoil in India.

Sk. Islamuddin of Metiabruz in West Kolkata, was declared brought dead at a hospital on Friday.

"On Thursday, he had gone to the bank to withdraw money. But after waiting for long at the queue, he only got a chit and was asked to come back on Friday. He was desperate for money to feed his children. So he queued up before the bank from 2 a.m.

"He went home at 4 a.m. and had tea and snacks. But then he had a massive heart attack, collapsed and died later," said Islamuddin's relative.
