THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Upa Lok Ayuktha Justice G Sasidharan has directed the Kerala University to pay over Rs one lakh that was recovered from the pension benefits of Kerala University former head of Commerce Department M Sarnghadharan at the earliest. Upa Lok Ayuktha gave the directive on Tuesday while considering a petition filed by Sarnghadharan.
The amount was recovered from the gratuity of Sarnghadharan who opted for voluntary retirement. The University had claimed that Sarnghadharan had some liabilities. However, the Upa Lok Ayuktha pointed out that the University had given no liability certificate to Sarnghadharan. Earlier, the Up Lok Ayuktha had given a favourable verdict to Sarnghadharan, the University had not implemented it. Following, this the Upa Lok Ayuktha had issued three notices to the Registrar. However, he did not appear before the Upa Lok Ayuktha. Subsquently, the the Upa Lok Ayuktha had instructed the police to take steps to ensure that Registrar K A Hashim appeared before it on Tuesday. Hashim appeared before the court when the case came up for hearing on Tuesday. The Upa Lok Ayuktha also directed the University to consider the services of Sarnghadharan at Calicut University and also at various SN colleges.
