
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kanakakkunnu Palace grounds have turned a merry sight for all craft and handloom lovers in the city with a vast array of exquisite collections displayed at the Craft and Handloom Fair being conducted there under the auspices of Kerala Artisans’ Development Corporation (KADC). The fair that began on Friday has been drawing huge crowds.
The exhibition has as many as 35 craft and handloom stalls, showcasing different wares from various states of India like Rajasthan, Orissa, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The handloom stalls in particular have been attracting a huge crowd. Each of these stalls is unique, having a wide collection of handwoven dress materials, diwan and sofa covers and home decor from various states. Bengali sarees, Pochampalli salwars and vegetable dye clothes are among the major attractions at the handloom stalls.
The craft stalls are also really eye-catching as they exhibit a variety of products from across Kerala. The items are made from a variety of materials such as alloy, jute, bamboo, terracotta, palm leaf and rosewood. Most of these items were produced by KADC artisans.
Also on sale are a variety of rare gems, scented goods, spices, paintings, Hyderabadi pearls etc.
The exhibition, which is on till on Sunday, is attracting a number of foreign tourists also.
