THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Social Welfare Minister M K Muneer said here on Sunday on that there were lapses on the part of officials in the untoward incident at the adoption centre of the State Council for Child Welfare where an infant drowned to death on Thursday. The Minister was speaking after visiting the adoption centre. “Trained ayahs and a paediatrician would be appointed at the Council,” he said. The Minister held discussions with District Collector K N Satheesh who is in charge of the Council’s administration. The Minister directed the Collector to strengthen the security at the Centre. He also asked the latter to appraise of the needs of the Centre. Social Welfare Principal Secretary K M Abraham and Social Welfare director Jaya were present.
