THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ‘Penkunju,’ a documentary by Ananthapuri FM has entered the finals of the competition section of the 12th Iran International Radio Festival, AIR Thiruvananthapuram said in a statement.

‘Penkunju,’ which deals with the travails faced by the girl child in contemporary society, represents AIR at the international festival. The best programmes by broadcasters across the world are featured in this fest.

Ananthapuri FM programme executive Biju Mathew has written and directed the documentary. Past programmes by Biju have won the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union Prize in 2011, ABU-UNESCAP Programme Award-2011, European Union Media Prize-2006 and ABU Programme Award-2008, among other national and international prizes.

 The winners of the 12th Iran International Radio Festival will be honoured at Tehran in the last week of May.
