THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Syndicate Bank opened 108 branches across the country on a single day. Minister of State for Finance Namo Narain Meena formally inaugurated the branches in Bangalore on March 31. With this, the number of branches of the bank has crossed 2,700. At the function, Syndicate Bank executive director Anjaneya Prasad said that the bank had plans to open another 150 to 200 branches in the coming year, taking the number of branches to 2,900.

 The bank has crossed total business of Rs 2,77,000 crore consisting of Rs 1,53,405 crore in deposits and Rs 1,23,595 crore in advances. The Syndicate Bank, which is the SLBC convener for Karnataka and Lakshadweep, has also nine branches in Lakshadweep and 10 in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Ultra Small Branch project launched by the bank will bring 1,500 villages across the country under financial inclusion.
