THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a press conference here on Wednesday, Building and Road Workers Federation state president A C Jose demanded that a member of any INTUC affiliated organisation should be appointed to the Construction Workers Welfare Board.

A former MP and Assembly Speaker, he alleged that the functioning of the Board came to a standstill after the UDF Government came to power.

“The Labour Minister is inducting only his party members to the Board. Persons with affiliation to labour unions are ignored,” he said.

The Federation had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister on Wednesday requesting to address their grievances.

The Federation office bearers expressed hope that the UDF would consider their demands compassionately.

Union Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge  would inaugurate the Federation State General Council which would be held in Thrissur on April 22.
