THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Neyyattinkara M K Mohanachandran Memorial Award instituted to recognise talents in Carnatic music will be presented to Bangalore-based musician K C Ashok.  The award is given under the aegis of the cultural organisation Navarasam Sangeetha Sabha, which has been involved in promoting classical music for many years now. The award, consisting of a citation and a cash component of ` 10,000, will be presented at a function to be held at Chembai Hall, Sreevarahom, on April 28 at 6 pm.

 Ashok will render a single-raga concert featuring ‘kritis’ in ‘Keeravani’ after the function.

 The concert series was inaugurated in January this year and has so far featured noted musicians who have rendered ‘ekaraga archana’ in ragas ‘Kalyani’, ‘Mayamalavagowla’ etc.
