THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An expert committee will be formed to draft the guidelines and norms for constructions in slums. This was decided at a meeting of the technical advisory committee that met at Kudumbashree Mission office here on Friday.
Enacting laws exclusively for slums, the issues and solutions with regard to acquiring land for common purposes, public intervention and its need and significance, dearth of resource persons in plan implementation - all these were discussed at the meeting that was chaired by LSG Principal Secretary James Varghese.
The meeting was called to discuss the implementation of Rajiv Awaz Yojana (RAY) for which Kudumbashree is the nodal agency.
Additional Chief Secretary S M Vijayanand, LSG Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, Kudumbashree Executive Director Sarada Muraleedharan and Programme Officer S Karthikeyan presented the problems and technical solutions to the issues.
The meeting recommended that the colony people be given the prerogative to decide the land-sharing pattern in accordance to the building rules. The meeting was also attended by urban planning experts, representatives of accredited agencies and town planning officials.
