THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader VS Achuthanandan on Sunday urged the government to abandon  its move to weaken government hospitals.

 Speaking after inaugurating the silver jubilee celebrations of the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) Staff Union, the Opposition leader also asked the SCTIMST management to take a favourable stand to redress the grievances of the staff.  ‘’The demands of the staff including reintroduction of compensatory off for night duty, transparency in promotions and appointing more staff should be looked into,’’ he said.    Silver jubilee celebrations committee chairperson T N Seema MP presided over the function. N Ratheendran, M Krishnan, M Shahjahan, K Rajmohan, Saji S, KP Sunil, K V Manoj Kumar and K Venugopal spoke at the function.
