THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Asian School of Business (ASB) has opened admissions for the AICTE-approved two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) course for 2012-14.

 The admissions to the full-time course is based on MAT or CAT scores. The programme has an intake of 60 students and is slated to commence in  August 2012.

 Based on the academic performance of students during the first year of the programme, ASB has instituted scholarships of Rs 50,000 for up to 10 per cent of the total strength and Rs 25,000 for a further 10 per cent of the students. The scholarships are instituted by the George M Thomas Foundation. These will be in addition to the existing scholarships for students with outstanding academic achievement, including top CAT/MAT scores, those from rural schools, and from the north-eastern states.

 ASB also offers students a chance to join the ‘entrepreneurship cell’ at the end of the two-year programme. One team of students, adjudged to have a unique and innovative business idea will be assisted for incubation of their concept under the guidance of experienced consultants. ‘’ASB is keen to provide modules for business entrepreneurs and those hailing from rural areas,’’ said G Vijyaraghavan, member, State Planning Board, and member-secretary of ASB, at a news conference here on Tuesday.  ASB enjoys the benefit of guidance from a Board of Governors, comprising noted professionals and academics, both from India and abroad, he said.

 They include Dr S Ramadorai, former CEO of TCS and currently Advisor to the Prime Minister; Prof Samuel Paul, former Director, IIM-A and Advisor to the World Bank; Prof Prakash Apte, former Director IIM-B and Arun Kumar, Board Member, KPMG, California apart from G Vijaya Raghavan, the founder-CEO of Technopark here.

 ASB’s campus at Pallippuram near here is one of the first in the country to conform to Smart Building Protocols and is eligible for the LEED Green Campus Certification. ASB has established professional alliances with international academic institutions such as the US-based Kansas University School of Business (KUSB) and with European universities.

 ASB boasts of an impressive placement record with companies, including KPMG, Forbes Marshall, PwC, Accenture, Ernst & Young, TCS, HP Global, Blue Star, ICICI, HDFC, SunTec lining up to recruit its students.
