THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Wakf Samrakshana Samithi has alleged massive corruption in the Wakf Board. The Samithi office-bearers told reporters here on Wednesday that the Wakf Board was now controlled by the Muslim League. “The corruption is being carried out with the support of the League leadership,” they alleged.
Wakf properties worth crores of rupees were illegally transacted by the Board. The Wakf functions without a proper accounting system. The Wakf officials frame criminal cases against the whistle-blowers. Though the Samithi had submitted complaints in this regard to the Chief Minister, Home Minister, Government Secretary in charge of Wakf and the Vigilance Director, no action was taken. The Samithi alleged that there was large-scale corruption in the functioning of the Khadeeja Bhai Trust and Padamugal Jamaath in Ernakulam.
The Samithi would take out a mass protest march to the Wakf Board headquarters in Ernakulam on April 26. Samithi convener Nasar Manayil, Salam and legal advisor T U Ziyad attended the news conference.
