State technical school fest opened

The 35th State Technical High School Festival was inaugurated at Technical High School, Manja, by Education Minister Abdu Rabb on Friday. Kerala Sahitya Academy Chairman Perumbadavom Sreedharan and Padmashri award winner J Hareendran Nair, managing director of Pankajakasthuri, were present on the occasion.

Students from 39 technical high schools and nine higher secondary technical schools in the state will participate in the events to begin from Saturday. In four venues, competitions in 23 categories will be held.

 The valedictory meet at 4.30 pm on Sunday will be inaugurated by Speaker G Karthikeyan and Koliyakode Krishnan Nair MLA will preside over. During which the 50th anniversary celebrations of the school will be inaugurated by A Sampath MP.

 Preparations for the festival have been on over the past one month under a committee having the Speaker, A Sampath MP, MLAs Palode Ravi and Koliyakode Krishnan Nair and  Anad Jayan as patrons; Nedumangad municipality chairperson Lekha Suresh as organising committee chairperson, technical high school superintendent R S Sajeev Kumar as general convenor and PTA vice-president R Jayachandran Nair.
