Biometric cards made mandatory for fish workers

The Central Government has made it mandatory for fish workers to have biometric cards, on grounds of national security. The State Government has started issuing the cards.

According to a press release, the biometric card would also be the official identity card. Since welfare schemes meant for fish workers could be implemented with the help of biometric cards, the information for getting the same should be submitted at the earliest.The fish workers who did not complete the formalities for obtaining the biometric cards should  submit the documents to the respective Fisheries Office before December 20.

Those who have submitted the documents should collect the cards from the respective offices before December 12.
