Elected chairman

K Sivadasan Nair MLA, has been elected as the chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional Cooperative Banking Association, at the general body meet of the organisation, held in Tokyo recently.

He is the first Malayalee to adorn the coveted post.The Regional Cooperative Banking Association is an apex forum of cooperative banks and non-banking organisations in the co-operative sector in the Asia -Pacific region,in which India is a key player.Sivadasan Nair has a long stint of 35 years behind him in his close association with the rural cooperative lending sector.

He was the chairman of the State Co-operative Agricultural Development Bank for more than one-and-a-half decade.   Currently,he is the chairman of the National Cooperative Agricultural Development Bank and vice-chairman of the National Cooperative Union. A Congress leader,he represents the Aranmula constituency.  ENS
