Health policy in six months: Minister

The government is planning to frame a comprehensive health policy for the state within six months, according to Health Minister V S Sivakumar. He said that a 19-member committee under Dr Balaraman Nair has been formed to formulate a health policy aimed at the comprehensive development in the health sector in the state.

As part of formulating the health policy, a seminar would be held on Friday. Chief  Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the seminar at the Guest house here. The seminar will discuss various issues related to the health sector in the state  such as the various projects of the government and achievements made so far and shortcomings.

The state’s drug policy, old age care policy and manpower policy in the health sector would also be discussed at the seminar.

Planning Board vice-chairman K M Chandrashekar, former Health Minister P K Sreemathi and officials will participate in the seminar.
