First day first show

A technical glitch played spoilsport at the first show of IFFK 2012. Though ‘Four Suns’ a Czech/ German film was scheduled in the world cinema section at Anjali Theatre at Friday 9am, the digital cinema package (DCP) went awry. The theatre owner briefed the audience and the film was shifted to Ajantha theatre, while Anjali went ahead and screened another movie.

Though the first show at Kalabhavan went without much trouble the scheduling threw the next show into chaos. The first film ‘18 Days’, which started 9.30am was 125 minutes long and the next screening was scheduled at 11.30 am, by which time the screening of the former had not finished. However the queue for the 98-minute film ‘Mystery’ was formed even before an hour and was quite long by 11.30.

The show was delayed by 15 minutes and a heavy rush followed the opening of the entrance. The security had a tough time managing the crowd and saving ‘public property’ including the plant pots and glass panels of the refurbished theatre, which was inaugurated only on Thursday. The technical advancements of the theater forced many to stick to the seat.

The ground floor of the theatre had almost double the number of audience than the 275 seats it has. Though the Balcony was better off, it also had viewers standing around.
