Annual day celebrated

Kendriya Vidyalaya Pattom celebrated its 49th annual day. Shashi Tharoor, Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development, inaugurated the celebrations the other day at the school auditorium.

“The provision of 25 per cent of the seats in class one to children who belong to the underprivileged and economically backward sections of society under the Right to Education Act is making tremendous changes in the school education sector,” the Minister said in his address. He also stressed the role of cultural programmes in the comprehensive development of students.

K Muralidharan MLA; B S Valsala Nair, Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom; Sreenatha Sasthry, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India (SBI); Murukesan, Corporation ward councillor; Dr Ajit Kumar, Vice Chairman, PTA (Shift-I) and Harish Kumar S, Vice Chairman, PTA (Shift-II) also addressed the gathering.

Awards and prizes for meritorious students and teachers were presented at the function which was followed by various cultural programmes by the students.
