‘Steps to raise coir sector productivity’

The State Government would take steps to improve productivity in the coir sector and efforts in this direction have already started, Minister for Revenue and Coir Adoor Prakash has said.  Inaugurating the Coir Craft Shoppy at the Kerala State Coir Directorate here on Monday, he said that there are four lakh workers in the coir sector of which 90 per cent are women. The State Government aims to decrease the duration of working hours but increase the productivity.

 K Muraleedharan MLA presided over the function. Mayor K Chandrika inaugurated the new website started by the Coir Corporation. Coir Corporation chairman K R Rajendra Prasad, Managing Director G N Nair and Coir Development director K Madanan were among those who were present at the function.
